Breathe

Dérive is a 46-acre private land conservancy and artists’ retreat in Southwestern Wisconsin, located 90 miles northwest of Madison and 50 miles southeast of La Crosse. The property is situated at the center of a deep Karst valley only two miles from the Kickapoo Valley Reserve, an 8,600-acre tract of land between the villages of La Farge and Ontario in Vernon County. Here, sandstone outcroppings tower over the Kickapoo River as you paddle its quiet waters while native plants and animals abound in all seasons. At Dérive, guests are welcome to explore nearly two miles of walking trails, or meander through the tall prairie grass to the creek, and if you’re lucky you may catch a glimpse of our resident bald eagles and red-tailed hawks flying over the valley. This setting offers year-round beauty and tranquility, and a unique experience for every visitor.
